Kazakhstan extends its leading position in the international hiring activity rating despite considerable changes in the list. During the previous quarter Kazakhstan held eighth place, yet the country is now amongst the top three leaders. Such results were obtained during the quarterly survey held by Antal Kazakhstan and Antal International over 47 countries.
Compared with March, the number of the companies actively hiring managerial-level staff has increased from 71% to 73%. At the same time the number of companies letting managers go has also gone down, by 10% during the second quarter.
“Kazakhstan’s labour market is definitely on the up. Despite the number of candidates still outweighing the number of opened positions, the growth in companies’ hiring activity is evident, – recounts Natalia Kurkchi, Antal Kazakhstan’s General Manager. According to various estimations Kazakhstan’s economy is entering into a period of post crisis growth. In 2011 – 2015 the increase in oil and gas production and gradual development of the metallurgical and accompanying sectors is expected. Additionally sectors not related to natural resources are being developed, such as retail, pharmaceutical and transport. These have previously been considerably under-represented in Kazakhstan and therefore offer prospects for growth. Measures are also being taken for the banking sector revival and all these processes contribute to the country’s economic growth and consequently to rising demand for the specialists at various levels”.
On the international scale, Asian countries topped the chart with the strongest results; some 64% of companies are actively hiring managers – the leaders here are Philippines, Turkey and China. Thus the previous leaders – Northern and Southern America have dropped out of the running.
According to the survey results the highest hiring rates in Russia are observed in the banking sector, retail, FMCG and pharmaceutical companies, as well as in the IT and production sectors.
These key sectors mirror worldwide trends since the survey shows that on an international scale hiring activity is the highest in IT and medical sectors, banking and financial, service and media companies.
Ukrainian companies continue demonstrating the best results in hiring activity among European countries – the number of the companies opening managerial positions remains at 75%. Russia have suffered a slight decrease in hiring rates (from 72% to 66%), which is connected with companies staffing up during the post-crisis years.
