Kazakhstan: Salaries in ‘Sales’ are growing again

Read in Russian

Salaries of Directors and Managers across most industry sectors in Kazakhstan are predicted to rise in 2010 as demand again starts to increase. This is in direct comparison to 2009 when sales professionals’ salaries reduced significantly due to the global downturn.

For those employees who were able to retain their jobs during the restructuring that affected most companies throughout the downturn period, the effects were not only felt in salary. Few salaries were adjusted to reflect inflation, often they were reduced, bonuses were lower but some of the non-financial benefits were also scaled back or withdrawn altogether, medical insurance, lunch allowances and even bonuses were all subject to reduction or not provided at all. During this austerity period many considered looking for new employment, but there was not a great choice.

As the market starts reviving in 2010, the situation has started to change: medical insurance is now back in many employees’ compensation packages, salaries are stabilized and bonus payments become much more real, reflecting the better results that come out of an economy in recovery.

Below you can find the salary survey of different sales roles by the example of FMCG and B2B industries. These figures only reflect the fixed salary of the employees and do not include other non-financial elements of their compensation package or bonuses.
